DIA-CoE IIT Roorkee is established by DRDO to build Directed Research Eco-system through collaboration among DRDO labs, Academia and Startups/Industries to pursue research both in developing the cutting-edge technologies and in the areas of denied defence technologies.

The primary aim of establishing such DIA-CoEs is to provide impetus to research & innovations in identified futuristic defence technological domains. This is achieved through harnessing & synergizing the combined strength of academia, research fellows, niche technology industries & DRDO scientists. The IIT Roorkee DIA-CoE is one among the 15 DIA-CoEs established so far.
